Bulletproof Bras: Not Just for Science Fiction
I’m about to date myself: I grew up during the tail end of the “cast iron bra” era of SF art. A woman wasn’t a woman unless she wore metal undergarments. Rust must have been a real problem.
I suppose that’s why this story at Gizmodo grabbed my attention. It seems that police in Germany have developed the undergarment for female officers. If I read the article correctly, it says that a woman can get injured when wearing a regular bra under a bulletproof vest because of the metal and plastic parts. This bra doesn’t have any of that. Indeed, it looks pretty much like a jogging bra.

I wonder if they’ll hold up to ray guns and bug-eyed monsters.
