What Is It? Second Course: Soup

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

We had a bit of a pause in our dinner routine. Damned indigestion will get you every time. Now we have an industrial-sized bottle of Zantac and are ready to continue with the feast!

Today, the soup:

Behold the creamed flecks of something grandpa coughed up last week, topped off with a lovely alien lifeform.

So what do YOU think it is? Remember, we’re not looking for a literal interpretation; rather we’d like you to consider the potential of the dish.

What Is It? First Course: Appetizer

1appetizer

We start our seven course extravaganza with a representation of the zodiac in seafood. We take heart in knowing the chef chose not to replicate the Mayan calendar, in which case we would all be doomed.

What do you think it is? Remember, we’re not looking for a literal interpretation; rather we’d like you to consider the potential of the dish.

What Is it? Wednesday Is Back!

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

While our chefs prepare a sumptuous seven course meal for your pleasure, allow us to tease your palate with this dish:

intro

It appears someone baked up the torso of a beloved food mascot and served him up as part of a starchy feast.

What do you think it is?

(Just a reminder on the ground rules. We’re not looking for the actual name of the dish. We’re looking for its potential. Keep it PG-13, please. If this is your first time to comment, your post will be held for approval. There is one sort of spam we don’t tolerate around here!)

That little flash of pink next to last week’s dunce salad?

peach_boob

Why, it’s the pink peach boobie of delight! Now we know why the salad got into trouble.

Perhaps you have a better name for this food item? Leave your comment below.

If it’s Wednesday, then it must be time for another helping of unidentifiable food.

This week’s folly:

dunce_salad

This is what happens when the salad course gets put into time out.

Our previous abomination was called Peach Temptation. I was sure tempted to do something with it…

So, what do you think this is? Next week, watch for more of the mysterious pink blob you see in the corner. Betcha can’t wait.

Continuing with our theme of sci-fi food: Gagh!

gagh

Remember, it is best eaten while living!

Enjoy with a serving of Spock’s Brain.

Your eyes weren’t fooling you last week: Those were little bunny-shaped dishes. But don’t turn your back on them. They’re killer bunny-shaped dishes!

Spring is in the air, Easter is around the corner, and the Zombie Bunnies are on the march!

“Eeeeeegggggzzzzzz!”

As for last weeks mess, I never did figure out what it was supposed to be, other than it apparently contained that most unfortunately-named of ingredients: Aspic.

We’re a day late, but pretend it’s Wednesday, okay?

clown_salad

I’m not sure what’s worse here: The creepy clown cracker or the alien life form perched on a doily. Whatever it is, it is clearly withink the clown’s hypnotic thrall.

What do YOU think it is?

Last week’s food product was called a tomato rose.

Don’t get too close to that flower, Spock!

What do YOU think it is?

Last week’s mess was billed as a “snappy” cheese custard snack. Human digestive systems may disagree.

Here is this week’s example of bad food photography:

words_fail_me

Words fail me. The perpetrators of this may be first up against the wall when the food revolution comes. Either that, or they’ll be hailed as heroes in the Hall of Incomprehensibly Named Menu Items.

What do YOU think this is?

Last week’s abomination was Louisiana Yam Lobster Chowder. Uh, yeah.
